Toast & Jam: Berlin’s Vintage Fashion Fair
Last week it was the Berlin Fashion Week. From 17th to 22th of January loads of shows, fairs and parties were celebrated all over the city. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin and Bread & Butter were the highlights of the week.
There were also some new events and platforms debuting this year such as Show & Order, The Gallery Berlin and Toast & Jam. The latter was the first Vintage Fashion Market hosted by Exberliner Magazine and Nowkoelln Flowmarkt. The market took place in C-Club, Berlin Tempelhof from 19th to 21s of January.
The event was really appealing so we decided to pop in and take a look at the vintage clothes and Fashion Show. During three days approximately 30 selected, high-quality vendors from around Germany and Europe presented their stock. On he first day of the event there was also a Fashion Catwalk involving selected vintage pieces. The event ended with a closing party.
So we were there on its first day. When we got in, we asked for our Press Accreditation’s and they gave us a tote bag full of things. It was a very casual and informal event. The place was pretty small but the quality of the ware was excellent, so it was easy to find valuable stuff. There were items from independent and emerging designers in addition to real vintage garments from prestigious brands: Chanel, Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivianne Westwood, etc. Extremely precious things!
While we were wandering around and observing every single stand the Catwalk started. It was amazing! We were stunned by the performance of the models, and what’s more, for their gorgeous outfits.
All the boutiques were fabulous, but there were some of them that truly caught our eye. For instance, Miracolo 40. They had a high-quality selection of authentic and elegant vintage clothes. Another of our favourites ones was Lunettes Selection, which had a wide range of vintage and creative glasses. Finally, there was also a very nice stand of a Spanish independent designer. It was full of beautiful necklaces and tote bags with lovely patterns.
It was very funny because at the event you could actually eat Toast & Jam. At the bar, they served hot toasts with Jam or whatever you wanted.
All in all, we spent an awesome evening at Toast & Jam. We hope next year they repeat the event because it was honestly worthy!
We have written this post for El Blog de María León. There you can find it in the Spanish version.
